Synopsis[edit | edit source]
After a bizarre outburst, David undergoes psychiatric observation; Kelly and Mark have a less than excellent Thanksgiving adventure; and not even Chancellor Arnold (Nicholas Pryor) can save Steve from his latest error.
Recap[edit | edit source]
The gang help Nat’s employee, WILLIE, finish building his new home sponsored by Habitat for Humanity. They reach their goal and finish in time for Thanksgiving dinner in the structure. David’s erratic behavior continues and after an argument ensues with Donna in the student union, he throws his books and plates to the ground badly cutting his hand on broken glass. After displaying hostile behavior in the ER a visit by the staff psychiatrist is arranged. Mel and Donna agree with the recommendation that David be held for 72 hours of observation, they are concerned that his behavior may be inherited from his mother, a manic-depressive. Mel returns to work. Donna shares David’s mother’s history with the doctor and camps out at the hospital. Sheila, David’s mother, arrives and gets through to him that he may not need medication if he gets therapy and stops drinking altogether.
David finally realizes that he has to make some changes in his life. David joins the gang at the building site for Thanksgiving dinner and thanks Donna for her unconditional love and support. Steve’s blatant plagiarism is detected Professor Randall; he assumed control of Steve’s independent study course after returning to the university and recognized Brandon's writing. Steve is notified that he will be expelled from C.U.. Professor Randall, still holding a vendetta against Brandon for having an affair with his wife years ago, includes Brandon in the scam and adds collusion charges to Steve’s case. Kelly and Mark's plans for a romantic weekend getaway are foiled by a lost reservation at their hotel. They spend the day freeloading from a very posh hotel, eating from the buffet and using the spa facilities. When they return to their cheap motel room they are both punished with a severe case of food poisoning.
