Karla is the niece of Anna Rodriguez, the maid working for Jim and Cindy Walsh. With Anna's help to convince Jim and Cindy Walsh, she uses their address as a way to attend West Beverly Hills High School temporarily, while she awaits to testify at the trial involving a drive-by shooting near Dogtown, where she does volunteer work at a rec center. However, she resides is from Pomona. She is very defensive about racial issues, but softens and begins to date Brandon. They have their ups and downs, but after the killer confesses to the crime Karla witnessed, she goes home to live with her family and says a fond farewell to Brandon.
