Sheryl is a guest character in Season 1 of Beverly Hills, 90210. She is portrayed by Paula Irvine.
Character
Sheryl is a sweet, bubbly and energetic girl from Minneapolis, who later turns out to be a lot more sombre than the front she puts on, as she has problems at home. She and Brandon were together a year in Minnesota before Brandon and his family moved to Beverly Hills.
Story
Sheryl comes to visit the Walshes in Beverly Hills and at first, everything between Brandon and Sheryl is great. Despite agreeing not to be long distance, they're happy to see each other. They sleep together, which is Brandon's first time - something they talked about doing while they were in a relationship. When Sheryl meets Dylan McKay, she becomes caught up in the Hollywood night life and riches. She starts acting out of character and drinks at a night club and dances with Dylan. When Dylan tells Brandon that Sheryl made a pass at him, Brandon's punches Dylan before Sheryl runs out of the club.
Dylan and Brandon clear up the misunderstanding and Sheryl talks to Brandon. She explains that his departure from Minnesota had devastated her, leaving her with no support in a household with a stepfather she didn't get along with and a passive mother. She had had sex for the first time with another guy after Brandon moved away, but it was meaningless to her because she didn't feel the way she does about Brandon feelings. After her parents call looking for her, Sheryl confesses that she ran away and her parents don't know she went to California. Sheryl returns to Minnesota to face the issues with her parents and tells Brandon that maybe she'll visit again in a few years.
