Wayne is a free-spirited professional beach volleyball player who Donna Martin 'discovers' outside of Now Wear This and recruits to model her clothes. Donna, however, was really attracted to Wayne more so than his modelling prospects. When Wayne starts flirting with Donna, she, despite being with Noah Hunter, gives in to her attraction and starts seeing Wayne. When Noah asks Donna to move in with him and Wayne offers to take her on his volleyball tour to Acapulco, Noah breaks up with Donna and she sleeps with Wayne. The following day, Noah finds them together and storms off. Later, after Wayne was insensitive concerning a situation involving Kelly Taylor shooting her rapist, Donna feels she's made a mistake with Wayne and dumps him.
